Ruben Castro serves as Superintendent of the El Centro Elementary School District, overseeing 12 schools, including three recognized as Schools to Watch. He began his career in 1999 as an eighth-grade teacher and has since served as a curriculum coach, assistant principal, principal, State and Federal Projects Director, Associate Superintendent, and Deputy Superintendent.

Ruben holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from California State University, San Bernardino, a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from San Diego State University, and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. He is committed to meeting the unique needs of young adolescents and advancing excellence in middle-level education.
